The best version of yourself, without compromise

SUMMER STARTS NOW!

This week I really saw the change.

Studios filling up with familiar (and new faces)

People vying for space on the gym floor.

And people’s insta stories gradually transitioning from images of Baileys, cheese and “what day of the week is it” memes to photos of gym foyers and Strava times (including me)

And while I love the enthusiasm everyone has for January, and it’s great to see as a coach, it’s also remarkable how easily you can plot the ebbs and flows of fitness effort throughout the year.

January is a given.

Although people can, and do, fade towards the end without structure.

Feb and March are hit and miss; the focus really isn’t there.

April it’s fucked, and you can’t only blame Easter.

And before you know it all of the good intentions, promises of change and projected waist sizes never even existed.

Only to be rebooted again in June, which is LATE by the way, for summer holidays only weeks away.

You put too much pressure on yourself in Jan.

You make the horizon too small, the timeline too brief.

You want to live it like a Spartan, to compensate for living like a Roman only weeks earlier.

But here’s the thing, and the only real “trick” that separates people who genuinely change, and people locked into a decades long cycle:

Good enough consistency beats acute bouts of effort, every fucking time.

Because the thing with acute effort? It can’t be sustained.

Who does better – the person that rinses January, falls off a cliff and then reboots in June.

Or the person that keeps chipping away, brick by brick, with an intention to be at their best only when summer imminently emerges.

Summer  - the time when you actually want to be social, to travel, to wear less clothing, and potentially to have lots and lots more sex?

THAT summer.

Don’t waste these early months.

Don’t fuck around, putting in shifts here and there without any consideration for the future.

Get your structure in place NOW.

Work well enough, frequently enough and enjoy less limitations on your lifestyle as you do so as a result.

Long term plan > acute effort.

When it comes to your training, summer isn’t coming, it’s already here.

Don’t let another year pass you by because you started too late.

Jordan
